BIOGRAPHY

Natalie, a renowned harpist and singer-songwriter based in London, has garnered acclaim for her distinctive approach to experimental pop music. Trained classically, she showcases versatility, captivating audiences from the Royal Festival Hall in London to The Bluebird in Nashville.

Recipient of the MMSF harp fellowship with the London Philharmonia, Natalie’s classical freelance career in London includes engagements with esteemed ensembles like the London Contemporary Music Festival Orchestra, the King’s College Boys Choir, and the Guernsey Symphony Orchestra. She has participated in international music festivals and masterclasses in France, studying with esteemed harpists such as Isabelle Moretti, Isabelle Perrin, Sylvain Blassel, and Marie-Pierre Langlamet. Natalie was also a featured performer at the 150th anniversary celebration of Lyon & Healy, the world’s leading harp manufacturers.

Beyond classical realms, Natalie pursued jazz harp studies with Park Stickney, gaining recognition for her instrumental pop arrangements. Her rendition of Adele’s Rolling in the Deep” gained widespread acclaim on YouTube, and her collaboration on Gotye’s Somebody That I Used to Know” with percussionist Evan Chapman earned them a personal invitation from Gotye.

After graduating from Indiana University, Natalie recorded in the iconic studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, establishing herself as a recording harpist and singer/songwriter in Nashville. Her debut EP, No Mercy in the Night,” received praise for its lush orchestration. Natalie continues her work as a session harpist in London, collaborating with UK-based producers and indie/rock bands. Her single Small Crimes” featured on the season finale of Netflix’s Grace and Frankie.”

Natalie is not only an accomplished performer but also a dedicated music educator. Holding degrees from Indiana University and the Royal Academy of Music, she teaches privately and at schools in London. In 2018, she co-founded the Hampstead Harp Centre, offering harp ensemble, chamber music, and performance classes for young London-based harpists. Passionate about music education, Natalie was awarded a UK Entrepreneur Visa, sponsored by the Royal Academy of Music.

In summary, Natalie Lurie’s journey from classical training to experimentation in pop reflects a dynamic career marked by artistic exploration, global collaborations, and a commitment to nurturing the next generation of harpists through education and innovative initiatives like the Hampstead Harp Centre.
