Surrey Wedding Band Rundown
We have worked a lot in Surrey and we still provide hundreds of clients with bands and performers each year. Here are our most frequently asked questions about bands and what to look out for.
Can I see the band live before I book?
This is one of our most asked questions and typically the answer is no. All of our bands are professional bands, and becasue of this the events that they perform at, like your wedding, are private. Sometimes the bands do have public performances, and if they, we will let you know so you can go and see them.
How much should a live wedding band cost in Surrey?
The average Surrey wedding band in 2025 costs £2675. This is based on a local band hire, and a 4 piece band playing up to 2 hours of music. Larger bands like Calibre will be more and smaller bands like Gravity will be less.
Will the band play my first dance live?
All of our bands will be quoted to you with them learning and performing your first dance. We always caveat this however as some songs work really well with a live band, and some don’t work so well. If you are looking for some inspiration, check out our first dance blog here.
What happens if my timings change?
Just let us know and we’ll see if anything needs to change. Weddings are really fluid things and Gecko Live and the band are used to this so don’t worry.
Can I use a microphone?
This can be possible depending on when the band arrives and get’s set up. It’s worth noting that a mic and sound system is never usually part of the standard quotes with bands so it’s worth letting us know sooner rather than later if it’s something you’re going to need.
Will the band need a stage to perform on?
Not necessarily, but they will need a flat and stable surface. That being said, we always recommend it for the band and it can make all the difference in making your chosen wedding band the centre of attention for the evening party.
What does the band need from me on the day?
All our bands will need a safe performance space, somewhere to prepare for their performance and access to soft drinks and an evening meal. Often the bands and performers are out on multiple days back to back and sometime performing at multiple events per day so keeping them fueled is key for an awesome performance.
When should I book?
Now! Our bands get booked up fast and you should be aiming to book as soon as possible once you have found the right band for your wedding day. If you are a key day (Friday/Saturday) our bands can be booked up to 2 years in advance and these days are the most popular for enquiries. Weekday weddings are becoming more popular and one of our newest key days is a Thursday wedding.
