Making Memories at St Giles House

How We Crafted Rupert & Sophie’s Perfect Wedding Soundtrack

Their Vision

Every wedding has its own style, and for Rupert and Sophie’s September wedding at St Giles House, it needed to be personal and fun. They didn’t want a cookie-cutter wedding band that just turned up and played a standard setlist. They wanted their music to feel like a natural extension of themselves, full of energy, fun, and moments their guests would talk about for years.
Here is a look at how we collaborated with them to weave live music through every single chapter of their day.

Post-Ceremony Celebration

The Style: Acoustic, engaging, and completely immersive

Rupert and Sophie loved the idea of a celebration that never felt stagnant. So, instead of letting that post-ceremony energy dip while guests figured out where to go next, we met the newlyweds and their guests right at the church doors.

Instruments in hand, The Strolling Tones lead the entire wedding party through the gardens and up the main drive way back to St Giles House. We kept the acoustic tunes flowing right through the welcome drinks, setting a relaxed, fun, and interactive tone from the very first minute. It was like something from Love Actually!

A One-of-a-Kind First Dance & A Packed Floor

The Style: High-energy, soulful, and deeply personal

For their first dance, Rupert and Sophie wanted something entirely unique to them. They asked us for a bespoke, custom-arranged cover of Simply the Best”. We went away, rehearsed, and crafted a version specifically for them, helping to create a true core memory that surpassed all their expectations.

Right after, we plugged in the full electric band, brought on stage a saxophonist to join the band, and turned up the volume. Because wedding schedules naturally shift, we kept things completely relaxed and flexible on the ground, adjusting our set times on the fly to accommodate unexpected delays so the couple didn’t have to worry about a thing. The result? A dance floor upstairs that stayed absolutely packed.

The Secret Nightclub Handoff

The Style: Uninterrupted disco energy

One of the coolest parts of St Giles House is its hidden basement nightclub. Moving a paked dance floor downstairs can easily break the party momentum, but Rupert and Sophie wanted the energy to stay high.

To make it seamless, the band picked up their acoustic instruments again physically guided the party out of the main hall and led them down the stairs into the club. We timed our final live notes to sync perfectly with the waiting DJ’s very first track. It was a seamless handoff that kept everyone dancing into the early hours without missing a single beat.

Experiences over things … ALWAYS!

A perfect wedding soundtrack isn’t just about playing the right notes on the night, it’s about the peace of mind you have leading up to it. We know that you need to have complete faith in your specially chosen suppliers and the experience you received from the get go is so important to us.

Our band leader, Matt, worked closely with Rupert and Sophie from day one. Whether they needed quick reassurance over email, advice on venue sound levels, or ideas for the lighting setup, nothing was ever too much trouble. We pride ourselves on being completely responsive and easy-going, so you can focus entirely on enjoying your day.

Music and entertainment is one of, if not the most, important parts of a wedding day. Your guests will remember whether the food was good or not, but not what they ate. And the experience of an incredible party will stay with you and your wedding party forever. Venue, Food, Party, if you get these things right, everything else will fall into place!
