Owlpen Manor — The ultimate Cotswold country estate

Set in a private valley in the Cotswold Hills, Owlpen Manor is a truly stunning and exclusive wedding venue. With rolling hills in all directions, this picturesque Tudor manor is one of our favourite Cotswold wedding venues. Just outside the village of Uley near Tetbury and Stroud, Owlpen Manor is a wedding venue that boasts everything you could want, all in one location.

The estate has been lovingly restored and rebuilt by Sir Nicholas and Lady Karin Mander who bought Owlpen in 1974 as a home for their ever-growing family. They have painstakingly restored many of the buildings, mills, barns, and woodland to create a truly unique and breathtaking Cotswold estate and events venue. With the growth of the estate and demand for weddings, in the lockdown of 2020, the new Pole Barn was completed. This joins to the 15th Century Cyder Barn to create one continuous event and entertaining space that is perfect for weddings of up to 120 for dining and dancing.

Weddings at Owlpen Manor

The venue is centered around the historic Cyder Barn built in 1446 which is licensed for Civil ceremonies and is the oldest licensed wedding venue in Gloucestershire. There are 9 cottages on site, perfect for friends, family, and guests to stay in, as well as the manor itself which is also available for your wedding ceremony.

If you would prefer a church for your vows, the Owlpen Parish Church is nestled in the valley next to the Tudor manor and has it’s own private path to the estate.

Live Music and Entertainment at Owlpen Manor

Live music is something that works incredibly well at Owlpen Manor. Throughout a wedding, there are many points where music plays an incredibly important part, and Owlpen Manor works perfectly to bring this all together.

Music for your ceremony in the Tudor Manor, Cyder Barn, or Parish Church can be easily accommodated, and we recommend that you keep the same artists for your drinks reception to make the most of them and their talent.

In the summer months when the sun is shining, we often have acts performing in the formal gardens in front of the manor house, creating a beautiful ambiance for your drinks reception. Artists like The Strolling Tones, The Guitar Duo, Severn Strings and Harpist Amie are ideal for this.

For your evening dancing, we always recommend having your band or DJ in the Cyder Barn. This is a brilliant space for dancing and it allows the band/DJ to be setting up during your wedding breakfast. This means they don’t disturb you or your guests and means that the transition from evening dinner to party is seamless and as easy as possible.

How to make the most of your entertainment at Owlpen Manor

Our top tip for choosing music for your wedding at Owlpen Manor is to think about all the parts of the day individually and then talk to our team about creating a wedding entertainment package that suits you. Write a list of your most important parts of your wedding and if there is any music that you want to punctuate the day with. For example, you might not be having a first dance, but instead, be having a big entrance song.

Owlpen works so well for all types of music, so the sky really is your limit. Our team know the spaces really well and have worked there many times before so will be able to guide you to some great options.
