Party Entertainment for Corporate Events: Choosing a Party Band

Christmas is just around the corner, and if you’ve been tasked with organising the annual corporate Christmas party then you may want to find an amazing party band to ensure a truly memorable event. At Gecko Live we have hundreds of acts to choose from and we’re experts when it comes to show stopping live bands. Here are a few things that you need to consider if you’re planning on booking a large party band for a busy venue.

1. Consider the size and acoustics of your chosen venue.

Large spaces can present challenges in terms of sound dispersion, so you’ll want to hire a band with the equipment and expertise to fill the room with music without it becoming overwhelming. Bands such as Origin and Polyphonic have the capability to really fill a stage and are just incredible. Keep in mind though, that soundchecks and venue walkthroughs are essential parts of the process. They need to be done properly, so make sure you take into account these important additional hours when getting your budget signed off.

A busy venue typically calls for a larger band to match the energy and enthusiasm of the crowd. Consider bands that can offer multiple combinations of vocalists, instrumentalists, or even a horn section; bands like Spiral or Fuse. The additional musicians not only enhance the music but also create a visually engaging show for your guests. If you look at some of the party bands available on our Acts Page, you’ll notice that many offer multiple line-up options. If this is something that you’d like to discuss further, we’d love for you to get in touch so that we can talk through your options and what could work for your venue.

2. Choose an experienced live act who will engage with your crowd.

When choosing a large party band, versatility is key. The band should be able to adapt to the diverse musical tastes of your guests. They should also be able to play a wide range of genres, from classic hits to contemporary chart-toppers. The ability to seamlessly transition from one style to another will keep the dance floor packed. Party bands such as Bloom, Revolution, Pumas and Cipher can take you on a journey that spans decades with repertoires that include something for everyone.

The best large party bands know how to connect with the audience. Look for bands that can engage the crowd through audience participation, lively banter, and the ability to read the room to adjust the setlist accordingly.

This personal touch will make your party feel more interactive and memorable. These videos of Aperitive or Bloom are great examples of what you should be looking for.

3. Research your live entertainment

As well as stage presence, it’s important to try and gauge reliability when choosing any party entertainment. Ensure that the band is punctual, and professional, and has a proven track record of delivering outstanding performances. This will help alleviate any last-minute stress and ensure a smooth flow to your event.

Many of our bands offer multiple services to help your evening run more smoothly. Falcons for example is a four-piece rock and pop band that offers multiple packages including background music, acoustic packages and a full DJ service so your entertainment needs are covered throughout the day. Get in touch with us if you’d like help shortlisting acts in your area that can provide this type of service.

Our ultimate advice would be to find out as much as you can about your potential bands, this includes looking at existing testimonials or reviews to see if they deliver on what they promise. Alternatively, reputable entertainment agencies like ours should be extremely selective with the bands they have on their books. For example, we only ever select bands that have skilled musicians, produce high-quality performances and have an excellent proven track record.

Choosing a great large party band for your busy work Christmas party requires careful planning and consideration. But taking the time to find a band that matches the venue size, provides musical versatility, engages the audience, and maintains professionalism can transform your event into a memorable and festive celebration. We’re here to help you with that.
